5.11 Boonie Hat Tactical Reviews, Deals, Problems and Guides

I am very pleased with this hat. I was a little hesitant when ordering the first Boonie Hat in black because of the medium/large description[7 3/8-7 1/4/] was not sure that I'd get a hat on the small side which would be to small. 7 1/4 is what was needed and I can say the fit is just what I needed so much I ordered a second hat in green, same fit, happy. Called customer service before ordering, very helpful about sizing questions and was willing to go even further to find out about the sizing of this product. Placed the order later after talking to them and could not be happier with the construction, style and fit of this hat. I've had other boonies and these are much better. Ex A.F. S.P. Since I had already bought a TruSpec nylon/cotton boonie (a great hat by the way!), I decided to order this 5.11 "boonie" to have something with a more narrow brim for working on, and under, my truck.
First off, I don't really consider this a boonie hat, it's more like a bucket hat that you'd see older guys wearing while golfing - and that's fine, just know what it is before you order it. That said, it's extremely comfortable to wear and I'm really happy I ordered one. It's not my first choice on hot, sunny days but for jobs where a wider brim will get in the way, it's more that adequate.
Material and build quality are very nice and just what I expected from 5.11. I wear a 7½ so I ordered the L/XL and it fits great: it's loose enough to be comfortable without blowing off my head when a breeze pops up and so far I haven't needed the

Good hat. Lightweight, water resistant, comfortable to wear. Compared to other 'bucket' hats I've had, I wish it was a little deeper so it would come down on my head a bit more.

After a long hunt, I finally found a boonie hat that was flexible but strong and firm, with excellent quality, short brim rather than wide, and fit well. I first bought a tan, and liked it so much I bought a camo, and liked that so well I bought black and green versions - all 5.11 tactical. I think I'm set for boonie hats for awhile. Thanks!

Very good product. The first Boonie Hat that I purchased from you folks fits perfectly. The only problem that I have with this hat is the size. I believe there is a discrepancy in the size I ordered. I used the sizes of hats that usually wear, and the size of the Boonie Hat is a little small. But I will break it in as I wear it.

The order was delivered expediently. The hat was too large(my mistake) and I had some trouble trying to send it back, however the next thing I knew there came a hand addressed envelope with a return postal slip in it I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. Excellent fit, and very comfortable to wear. I immediately put it to use on arrival by taking it on a three mile run. Nice coverage on a sunny day. Some brims are large and sombrero like. This boonie is very well proportioned and well made.

I work outdoors and the cover my employer provided, which was a different hat sold by Tactical Gear, did not provide much protection from the heat and humidity. The 5.11 boonie so far has provided both, and it's a higher quality material.

The Camo was perfect and didn't have any disappointing misses in design. The rest of my order was perfect too. I'll definitely order from here again.

Hat is very well made and quite good looking. Just what I had hoped for. Colors and sizing right on!
