I bought my gator in the mid ninety's and did so because I liked the one an acquaintance had bought and wanted one like his. After carrying it for a while I decided it was to bulky and wanted a knife that felt better in my back pocket so I put it away for a few decades. In 2016 I rediscovered it in my collection, and by this time I had learned how to put an edge on a knife
that would cut just about anything with ease and shave hair off your arm too. This knife has become a knife that I do not leave home without and if I did, I would turn around and come back for it. This knife has a blade that is marked 650 on the tang and will take an excellent edge. It is also a well made knife that if not abused will last and give you your moneys worth.

I bought this knife back in the early 1990's. I tried to use it a few times and noticed how dangerous it was so it went in a draw with other mistakes and that's why it's lasted so long. The knife has a great feel but the placement of the unlocking lever causes it to unlock when pressure is applied. I had several instances where it became unlocked and almost relieved me of some digits. There are much better lock blades on the market at this price point. I would not recommend this knife if you want to keep your fingers.
