Design cues for the new Prodigy were inspired by the award-winning LMF II, another knife engineered by Gerber's Jeff Freeman. The Prodigy is much smaller (9.75" overall length), but it certainly packs as much punch as its predecessor. The full tang, U.S. 420HC Stainless Steel blade is beefy, and coated with ceramic for improved corrosion resistance and reduced visual signature. The ergonomic over-molded rubber handles ensures a soft, comfortable, but secure grip in all conditions. Its also MIRS compliant. Much like the knife, the sheath is designed to live up to the task with a friction-release thumb lock for security and a list of non-detection features. Noise is dampened thanks to a molded softgrip coating which, like the ballistic nylon material, is MIRS compliant. It's also MOLLE compatible and comes with a leg strap. I own the "LMF-11", the bigger brother, and its a great knife, for arts/crafts/rabid animals, whatever may come, 😁. Its also serrated, as that is my preference, when sawing through cordage, rope, wires, clothing, etc. Its "isolated", (almost full tang, till the very end.) so that you wont recieve a "shock", cutting live wire. Bought the "Prodigy", as a gift, and am very pleasantly surprised!, a little lighter, full tang, thinner shaft in hand, and carry. Perfect for women, teens, older folks that dont want to lug around a bigger, heavier, intimidating knife. Great purchase!, Price!

I am pretty new to knives, so I watched a lot of video feedback on many knives, I didn't want to spend tOO much, but wanted to try and get a decent survival knife, so I chose this prodigy, and I am happy enough that I did, I like it. I have larger hands and was worried about the grip, it's perfect. I like the feel and the weight, and I do not mind the mixed edge, gives me gOOd practice using both and sharpening both; the sheath is a little bulky, but it's rugged and holds the knife well, and I like the leg strap. Price was excellent; I bought 3 items, this knife was the only item NOT on sale, and the price was still better than many other places I searched; the price on the sale items I got was GREAT, and I received it very fast over the holidays. This was my first purchase with TG, and they delivered from beginning to end, I am a happy customer, gOOd job Tactical Gear, can't wait to get more awesome stuff in the future :-)

I really like the feel of this knife. I've recently gotten really interested in hunting and outdoorsy activities after a recent deer hunting trip. However, I realized I lacked even basic equipment like a knife and I felt this could be a good all-round knife. While the weight and feel is great, especially if you have small or medium hands like mine, I was disappointed with the sharpness of the blade. I have kitchen knives that are much sharper. When I took the knife out of the box it had a sticky yellow oily substance on the edge which I wiped off with a cloth. The blade itself felt very strong but the edge was kind of dull which will be a problem if I'm trying to dress a deer or gut fish. I plan on getting a stone to sharpen the knife and if that is unsatisfactory I'll return it. It just feels a little bit of a hassle to have to ask for a replacement if the replacement has the same issue.

This was my first combat sized knife and for its price, it is absolutely brilliant. The pommel of the knife is great for breaking things and the grip is both comfortable and it fits all size hands. The knife is balanced evenly at the hilt, which makes it a great throwing knife. I've only thrown it a couple times and I can confidently hit a target from 10 feet. My only complaint is the blade tarnish scrapes off easily. I had at a cardboard box for kicks and a large portion of tarnish scraped off. In conclusion, I think that this is the best beginner's knife you can buy.
