Designed and built in Portland, Oregon, this assisted-opening knife offers Gerber’s smoothest, most consistent deployment to date. Gerber’s B.O.S.S. Tech technology features a stainless steel ball-bearing system to reduce friction and provide stable performance for the long haul. The blade can be opened either left handed or right handed with the help of the dual ramped thumbstuds, and the scratch resistant, removable pocket clip can be repositioned to carry tip up or down. The high quality CPM S30V blade features a stone washed finish and has a high edge retention. Intuitively designed and painstakingly tested, the US-Assist is the next generation of the everyday pocket knife.

I did a LOT of research on knives before buying and decided to go with this one. I went with this one for a few reasons, but 1. It's made in America (Portland, OR.) and 2. price point. Size wise it's in between the Benchmade Barrage and Barrage Mini knives. In looking at other reviews of this knife the main issues seemed to be that the blade doesn't rest exactly in the middle of the blade housing when closed and that the pocket clip is rather tall. Yes, the blade isn't exactly in the middle, but I haven't noticed any rubbing yet to the point it would be a problem and even though the clip maybe taller than some it doesn't bother me at all. Don't even notice it when it's clipped onto my pocket. I really like the design of the knife and the AO feature is fantastic. With a flick of the thumb the blade shoots right open. Snappy. I like the push button release to fold the blade back in and the locking mechanism is nice feature to have. Seems tougher to engage than it should though.
