For a reliable and hardworking tactical boot, Bates presents the 5" Tactical Sport CT SZ. This functional 5" boot features a durable full-grain leather upper with 1680D nylon for maximum breathability and comfort. The rubber outsole is slip-resistant and can handle rough surfaces with superior grip. Athletic cement construction provides a comfortable fit with shock absorption for softer landings and a lighter stride. The breathable mesh lining keeps moisture out and makes sure your feet stay dry in wet conditions. There is a removable cushioned insert that offers lateral arch support and adds comfort. Because this boot has no metallic hardware, it is airport friendly and safe for use in secure buildings. The nylon side zipper makes putting this boot on and taking it off quick, simple and convenient.

I've been wearing the boots for about a month. They are very comfortable. I work 12-hour shifts, and walk 4 - 6 miles on concrete at work. For me there was no break in time. In the past with some other boots, it took a while to be able to wear them for a 12 hour shift. Not the case with these boots. The only issue I had was the stiffness of top/back part of the boot. It rubbed against the back of my leg while walking. Some other reviews I read mentioned this also. Since I was confident that I was going to keep these boots, I cut 5 small slits in the stiff part, top/back of the boots. Now they don't press into my legs while walking. I also swapped out the insoles. The original insoles were not uncomfortable, I just prefer softer ones. This is an excellent product! !!

I live in New York City. When it snows in the City is a real odyssey to walk around with all the ice water puddles and pools in the corners, ice in the sidewalks well you name the condition we got it. I need it a boot that can handle all these wet, cold, slippery condition and laugh about it (if it could laugh), while keeping you warm, dry and comfortable. I found it on this boot. The Bates 5" Tactical Sport Composite Toe Side Zip is The Real Deal. We had about 11" of snow in the City and I put them through the test. I purposely walked into a pool of icy water up to my ankles, stood there while the light change and to my surprise my feet were dry all day. Not a single drop of water. Also I have big feet (13EEE) so I do have a hard time finding my size in a fashionable-urban New York City Boot. Originally, I order them 14 since I didn't know if the boot run small or narrow. To my surprise the boot is "true to fit"; so I am going to order another pair in my real size 13EEE. I finally found my boot. Bates. Go get them.

I definitely do NOT regret this purchase. My feet certainly appreciate it. I was experiencing a lot of foot pain and even knee pain after my shifts. Now I don’t have any pain. Amazing what a great pair of boots can do for the body. I am a woman and I’m short, that being said these for nicely and don’t dig in on my legs like others that have a similar design do. I ordered the size I would normally wear and they fit perfect. I normally have issues with my feet being too wide but these boots were no issue in that area too.

I WORK IN THE WASTE INDUSTRY AND WE TEND TO BE HARD ON OUR FOOTWEAR AS INDUSTRIAL ATHLETES, WE SPEND 12 TO 14 HOURS A DAY IN THE FIELD AND NEED A SHOE THAT CAN HOLD UP TO THIS KIND OF ABUSE. MY BOOTS ARRIVED TODAY AND THEY WERE EVERYTHING ADVERTISED AND MORE, NOT ONLY ARE THEY WELL MADE AND GOOD LOOKING, THEY ARE LIGHT ON THE FOOT ALMOST LIKE A TENNIS SHOE AND APPEAR TO BE COMFORTABLE TO WEAR. SERVICE WAS GOOD AS WELL AS THE PRODUCT SO I AM PLEASED ALL THE WAY AROUND. I WILL ABUSE THESE FOR A WHILE AND LET YOU KNOW HOW THEY STAND UP AS WELL AS PASS ON THE WEB SITE TO MY EMPLOYEES FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN PURCHASING THEIR OWN BOOTS. WORK SAFE AMERICA!!!!!

Personally I love these boots. They are the most comfortable boot/shoe I wear. Light durable and great to wear all day everyday. I have 2 pairs. I wear one every other day to let one dry out. Even with the composite toe I have no issue. Great in a hospital construction setting. MRI safe too!!

The boot was great; but I had to return them. Even though the boots was a extra wide they were still too tight, length was ok just the width. The best thing to do is find a local store and try them on because you will still have to pay 10-20 dollars to return them if they don't fit or feel right. Besides that I will still do business with this company.

They fit great. These are seriously the most comfortable boots right from day one. The only thing I didn't like was the ankles are a bit stiff and tend to rub at first. Get some thick socks the go up your leg a bit and, problem solved.

This is my 3rd pair of these boots and each pair has been just what I needed. Easy break in but strong and long wearing.
Have never had the tops or zipper fail but have worn out the bottoms.
Great product.

I like my boots I just wish they had come in half size.12 is to small and my 13's are sloppy on my feet. I could have used a 12 1/2 but all i could see to order was the 13. Other than that I am happy with the price and delivery was right on.

These boots were the biggest waste of money for boots so far. The insoles and heel broke down within 2 weeks of wear, even after putting in gel insoles the boot hurt my husbands feet so bad he came home and started wearing a broken down and greasy pr of Converse boots that I bought him while you could still get them. I am looking at the Reebok brand and have not liked the reviews I am seeing and I believe the next pr we will try will be the Magnum, my husband likes the side zipper that is slanted and feels these will be easier to get off after 14hours on his feet at the mine. He stands on concrete all day and needs a boot with good support, these boots are not a good boot to hold up on a man's job, maybe a desk job but who knows???
