I wore these shoes while I was in the USMC. I spent alot of money purchasing comfortable
dressy shoes but they never lasted more than 6 months. While I was researching durable dressy shoes, I read an article that said the silent drill team and the secret service wear these shoes also. It made perfect sense to buy these shoes again. As soon as I put these shoes on again I was reminded why I liked them so much while I was in the military. They are sturdy, comfortable and they look nice. I believe these shoes will last a long time and even if they wear down the soles I can have them resoled unlike other dressy shoes. Even my wife liked them when she saw me wearing them. I would recommend these shoes to anyone who is serious about wearing durable comfortable dressy shoes. I'm even considering buying a second pair in brown or even the "Lites" version also.

Quality of the shoe is good unfortunately I ordered the wrong size but we made it work. My only complaint would be that it took too long to ship. Had I got it in a timely manner I would have been able to exchange them before my son needed to use them.

I wear these shoes everyday all day at an academy. I have done everything from running, parades, push-ups and everyday wear in them and they still feel great. They polish up great and I have no complaints. The sole has worn out so there is no tread on the bottom from facing movements and marching, which makes it hard to walk in snow. But after two years of wear I am NOT complaining. I would definitely buy another pair for the money.

I am an USAFA Cadet and these shoes have lasted 2 years. The leather wore out faster than the soles, being vibram you don´t have to worry about it. The heel has a old tap in design making it easy to replace if you wear them down fast. All in all, an amazing shoe for the price, make sure you polish them well the first time you get them, if you are military don´t worry about that part, they will make you do it anyway

I am a CAP cadet on my squadron's drill team. We use these as our "unofficial official" drill team shoe. Amazing feel even after long wear and if you put enough time into it and do it right (kiwi, cotton balls ,and water droplets) a shine equivalent to a high gloss should come out. Some cadets and Senior Members can't tell the difference between mine and a high gloss shoe!

I have been wearing the same pair of shoes for over a decade. The tread on the sole is smooth, but the uppers are still presentable. I have worn them to work and traveling, formal attire, business attire, and sport dress attire. They are a bit dressy for sport dress, but when traveling, I only take one pair of shoes. They look like patent leather when shined properly.

I'm a retired Naval officer, and I wore these for years on active duty. When I got out, I celebrated by buying wing tips, which lasted maybe a year before being worn out. It didn't take me long to return to these. Comfortable, well designed, attractive-- and they won't wear out in a year. Six to eight years, maybe, but not just one.

I have narrow feet and over my entire life I have had a tough time finding shoes that fit. I did not have high expectations mail-ordering shoes, but was amazed at the perfect fit and high level of comfort of these Bates oxfords. They look great, appear to be well made, and they were true to size. I could not be more pleased.

Need a good sturdy shoe that was comfortable, and able to take a good shine or 'spitshine'. These fit the bill perfectly! Pretty much the only kind I will wear!
