First thing I noticed out of the box was how light these boots felt. The box literally felt empty. Initial notes: These are definitely a purpose-built featherweight boot. Great care has been given to minimize weight as much as possible, given Nylon construction throughout and minimal padding on the boot upper. This gives the boot an odd (read: different) feel, as the material flexes and the boot can be cinched tight exactly where you need it. Many other boots are very sturdy, and getting them to fit without soaking/drying can be tough. Not so with the Tachyons. The flexibility of the material gives an almost barefoot feeling, and the light weight of the boot contributes to this. The footbed has a memory foam type insole which provides pretty good cushion. I will run with it for a while, but will likely end up replacing it with something with a little more cushioning. The rough-out material is great for me; less time spent polishing, and I don't feel bad about beating up on the boot.

I bought this boot because I was looking to get a lightweight, supportive boot good for running and PT with light trail duty that I could also use for everyday wear. I had previously run a pair of Altama LiteSpeeds and the issued Bates Durashocks as well as some Acadias. I loved my Altamas, but the quality left me wishing for something sturdier. These aren't the most durable of boots; however, my experience with the Acadias has me putting my faith in Danner. I tried a friend's Nike SFB's, but Nike shoes have never fit my feet well. These were a much better fit for my footstrike pattern. These should be considered minimalist running boots due to the thinner construction, and I highly recommend a gradual transition from normal running shoes to these.

Initial concerns: The sole seems glued on. No stitching is evident. I will keep my eye on this and have a bottle of shoe goo ready just in case. Literally no ankle support. The cuff/sleeve of the boot is made of nylon and a seatbelt-type webbing. Lack of cushioning for running on pavement. This can be remedied with a good insole.

All in all, I'm very happy with the boot. It is an unconventional design that addresses a need that has only been filled by a few manufacturers and I look forward to using these boots for an extended period of time.

TL;DR: Good comfort, lightweight, everyday wear. Not for serious trail duty or rucks.

Best boot I've ever owned extremely satisfied with the fit as well as the rugged no slip soles. I work from four am to four PM 6 days a week in a company that builds radar equipment for the military, the building I'm in is a mile long with concrete slabs for floors. I am on my feet all day, and do not even notice that I am wearing full boots. Extremely light weight, as well as thoroughly ventilated, these boots keep my feet as happy as a child in a candy store. I'm in these boots all day and when I get out of work my feet still have enough life in them to take my daughter to play at the park or hike some of the local trails. Great boots! I suggest buying the exact foot size if you plan on putting an insert in. Oh did I mention I ordered on a Sunday and got them on Tuesday? Great customer service! I will be a repeat customer for sure!

To start off, I am really satisfied with everything in the footwear. it is really light and there was no break in time. As soon as it came in I put it on and have worn it since. The next day, I placed an order for another pair. These boots came in to my mail in 5 days and I am from the island of Guam. 5 DAYS!!!! I think that is a world record for Guam for anything shipped here!!!! It usually takes longer than that( 3-4 weeks). I really couldn't believe how quick it got here. Customer service was such a big help with everything. The price was fair but you get what you pay for and I believe that these boots are worth every penny. I have been looing for a black rough surface boot for a long time. I found these and like them. They are great for normal everyday wear. You just need to remember that they are not made for extreme wear or weather conditions.

These boots are nothing short of amazing. I took these boots through some of the roughest training the Army has to offer and never got any blisters or hot spots. They are extremely light and durable. Not the toughest boots to be doing land navigation in but they got the job done. If you're looking for a light weight boot that fits the foot comfortably and allows you to move out quickly this is the one!

I've had the same pair of boots since last April. They're beat up. But let me explain. I bought them brand new to go through jrtc. These boots went through mud, swamps, rivers, sand, grass and I've done countless miles with them. We (the boots and I) walked a total of 20 something miles the first month. They held up quite nicely. Some deep stains, but I still wear them in garrison. I wear these boots daily as they're super comfortable. The grip isn't very aggressive but it works. They're super lightweight. They're fine to ruck in as well, because they're so light weight. You might want to consider getting new insoles though. Great friggin boots Mr. Lahey.

Great boot very light and comfy especially when you add gel insoles ;). Got a wide and it fits like a regular at the toes, regular is what I normally wear so watch out if you actually need a wide boot

It took about two weeks to actually break the boots in. Once they are, though, they absolutely rock!. They are the lightest boots I have ever felt and make it easy to PT in them. They aren't super rugged, but I'm a runner and I don't do hardcore rucking and stuff.

These boots are super light and comfortable. The only issue I am having is the boot keeps rubbing on my achilles. Hopefully by wearing them everyday it will eventually stop hurting my achilles. For now its cotton pads and bandaids.
