I ordered these while on deployment in Afghanistan and was pretty excited to get a Merrell tactical boot that fit within the bounds of AR 670-1 that was also waterproof. The boots arrived and seemed to be waterproof enough (I slapped them on and dumped a bottle of water on them). Through out deployment I wore the boot for several missions and many miles. I began to notice that, over time, their "waterproof-ness" began to wear out. By the time I returned from deployment they were no longer "waterproof". This was a six month time frame. These boots are not actually waterproof. There is no membrane to prevent the entrance of water. It is just a very heavy coating of a DWR. These should not say waterproof, they should say heavily water resistant. Or "six months of waterproofing!" The second issue I ran into was when I returned home to Alaska. Between the gravel and rocks all around Afghanistan and the rocks here in Alaska the toe and outer lugs of the boot comes off in chunks. If you like super soft soles on your boots these will be great. I enjoy a soft sole for garrison and light field work, but once I put a ruck on and get down to doing the infantry thing these boots were too soft. I am giving these two and a half stars because I am willing to bet the sole will be torn to shreds before the Alaskan winter hits.

I play competitive airsoft and I’ve always had issues with footwear. I decided to get these boots because they were “ waterproof “. Even the description says so. I took the to the feild the day after they arrived for a full day of playing. They were great until I stepped in puddle a little above my toes. After that my feet were completely soaked for the next 8 hours. These would be nice boots if you were in the desert maybe. But they are not waterproof at all.

Customer Service was great ensuring I was able to get the boots prior to an upcoming trip. Boot fits slightly bigger size than my other Merrells. They are surprisingly light based on the bulky look, they have a lot of cushioned ankle support with no rubbing.(yet)* I will post another review of these boots in 9-12months once I get some miles on them.

Everything I expected out of Merrell boots. Wore them a few days before a ruck and was very pleased with how comfortable they are. I wish I bought a half size smaller but they will be great boots for winter time wearing thicker socks.

I normally wear a 9.5 in other Merrell boots, had to size these down to a 9.0 to fit properly. Very comfortable with little break-in period. No rubbing or hotspots yet, but have only been using them lightly.

Super comfortable with great support. Dropped a good amount of CLP on the one boot and you can’t even tell it was there. We’ll see how they hold up over time
