The Propper Summerweight Tactical Shorts are an ideal hot-weather option for those seeking lightweight comfort and tactical functionality. The nylon and spandex ripstop construction is light enough to be comfortable in high temperatures and naturally wicks away moisture and sweat. It also features UPF 50 sun protection for long days with constant sun exposure. The gusseted crotch is reinforced for durability and promotes a wide range of motion, while mesh pocket bags keep you cool and ventilated. Angled cargo pockets on the thigh make reaching your gear a quick process, and extra zippered pockets ensure secure stowing. There are also zippered rear pockets and a covert back pocket for additional storage.

These shorts have a longer leg and crotch and are only second, in regards to favoritism, behind the Propper Edge Tec short, however that is due to pockets and features and not the fit. The material and fit of these shorts is second to none. I like to be able to wear my shorts higher on my hip to more comfortably conceal my holster and usually that means the shorts ride higher in the crotch and up my thigh. That is definitely not the case with these shorts. The pockets are also great as there are many of them and the double front pocket, the inner of which having velcro to keep closed, are awesome and keep my stuff in my pockets no matter what I am doing or how active and mobile I am. I will say the small watch pocket on the Edge Tec short is my preference over the bigger velcro pocket on these for my lighter, but these shorts have so many other features and the fit is so phenomenal, that it more than makes up for the lack of the watch pocket inside the right front pocket like the Edge Tec features. These shorts hands down exceeded all my expectations and I will be buying more in multiple colors because the fit is just simply the best of any short I have ever worn. The sizing was true for me and I didn't have to order a size up to comfortably conceal my holster but that may be because I buy all my shorts/pants in the size necessary for carrying a holster iwb and I don't really own any pants/shorts that don't fit too snugly to carry a holster in the first place. The waistband is not stretchy like the Edge Tec but that hasn't proved to be a point of contention for me, seemingly because the overall fit is so superb in the first place. Range of motion is totally unimpeded and I have never been uncomfortable wearing these no matter what I was doing or how “bendy” I needed to be. Just amazing shorts, plain and simple.

including Arizona summer! Tailoring is 1st class. Critical seams are serged and there's even a crotch panel instead of the cheaper 4-way join. Eleven total pockets, four of which are zippered with YKK zippers and 4 have Velcro closures. Left and right front pocket corners are reinforced for your tactical folder. Closest comparison I can make for summer-weight shorts is to Eddie Bauer Travex shorts that sell in the $60 - $80 range. The Propper fabric is about the same weight (maybe slightly heavier) and the Propper waist is cut to ride higher than the EB's. Propper belt loops can easily pass a 1.75" heavy-duty belt, are serge-seamed and attached with a tight zig-zag stitch.

My normal waist is a tight 36". I bought a 38" a) for comfort and b) for IWB carry.

Overall, these are feature-rich, quality-constructed shorts at a fair price. Buy them when on sale and you'll be way ahead of the game.

These really are, hands down, the best shorts I have ever owned. I live in the Southeast and work a physical job with no climate control. On the weekends I like to be outdoors. These shorts are very light and cool with lots of flex. Kneeling down or getting into shooting positions is much easier in these than in any other shorts I've ever owned. I pop buttons off of a lot of shorts. I don't expect this to happen with the clever design on these though. I initially didn't like the double front pockets but have come to love them. They actually make my EDC gear much easier to access because it's not all jumbled up into two pockets. With normal front pockets, my muti-tool makes answering my phone a real pain. With these pockets, I keep everything on the same side as before, but I don't have to dig around or wrestle a phone past a tool or pocket folder. I can't speak for the longevity as I've only had them for a couple weeks. If they do hold up, I hope they keep making them.

I have been in search of THE perfect shorts for the hot and humid summers we enjoy here in Georgia. I am an avid outdoor photographer and find myself hiking thru the briars and brambles of the Appalachians in the heat and humidity. These shorts stand up to a beating and look good doing so. The bonus is the usefulness of the numerous pockets. I can stow so much extraneous camera gear that I find I can use a smaller backpack. The material is tough but it stretches and is soft and comfortable when compared to the other brands. I love that the pants button is NOT sewn on with flimsy thread but fastened with twill tape that is not going to break. The back pockets are secure! Humping up and down the mountain sides with 25 lbs of gear I land on my butt quite a bit and would be really ticked if, at the end of a long day, I found that I lost my car keys along the way... the back pockets close with a really good zipper. The front pockets are reinforced so you can easily slide your pocket knife in and out. I love these shorts so much that I literally have purchased 7 of them. I have not found a single detail that I would change in the design, material or construction of these fabulous shorts.
Propper! Don't EVER quit making these shorts! They are a WINNER!

I was at a birthday party and had a muddy dog jump all over my leg , out of fear for my new shorts I took a bottle of water and poured a bit onto my leg and wiped the mud off. 5min later it was dry and perfectly clean. Not to mention these shorts will not wrinkle. I live in Texas, and these shorts survived a 5 hour drive, 7 hours outside in the heat and humidity at a birthday party, and another 5 hours back home in the car. No Wrinkles!!! I’m not a product pusher at all, just some damn good shorts that I’m happy with.

I will be using these as my mountain bike shorts. They are lighter weight, more comfortable than the name brand MTB company products that cost 3 times as much. I am ordering another pair. My only "problem" is that I usually wear a 31 waist and they are not offered in that size, but a 31 is hard to find any where. Great product. As usual this site is an awesome company to deal with.

These shorts are extremely lightweight and comfortable, especially when it's hot. I'm on the pool deck for hours during meets and these are perfect. Lots of pockets, stretchy where they need to be and they she'd water and dry fast.

The lightweight and summerweight tactical shorts are almost the same with similar features and pricing.
Note that one should consider ordering 1 size UP as it ran small, at least for me.
I wear 36w (large) but the shorts were tight on the waist but acceptable on the legs.
The inseam length is also long as anything >7 inches is too long! Don't know why many males like Long inseams on shorts when they could just buy a pair of pants for the same price!
Returned the shorts and will look for another brand or for pants instead.
Shipping charges are pricey so either look for an online coupon or order a larger amount to get free shipping though it's the slower delivery time. What does one expect for Free shipping?

These tactile shorts are excellent in every way. As an example, I spilled barbecue sauce on them and sauce wash right out with very little effort and cold water. No trace remaining. The shorts are comfortable and cool in the hot summer months. More pockets than the average guy probably needs!

Size fits perfect. Love the pockets. Light weight and breathable. Shorts are very stretchy and allow for great movement. Have used them several times and they just keep getting better as they get washed and used. Highly recommend (especially when they are on sale!)
