Suunto Core is the perfect watch for those who need more than just timekeeping. With its unassuming appearance, it offers a range of features that make it the ultimate tactical watch. For those who need to know their altitude, ascent and descent rates, the Suunto Core comes equipped with an altimeter that can measure up to 29,500 feet. The difference measurement allows you to monitor your progress while the log keeps track of your movements. The watch automatically switches between the altimeter and barometer depending on your movement, and records changes in elevation while climbing and changes in barometric pressure when you take a break. With its user-friendly interface, the Suunto Core offers accurate data gathering and can withstand extreme conditions.
Altimeter with range up to 29,500 feet
The Suunto Core features an accurate altimeter that can measure altitude up to 29,500 feet. This is a crucial tool for mountaineers, hikers, and anyone else who needs to know their altitude. The Core's altimeter also allows you to track your ascent and descent rates, so you can monitor your progress as you climb.
Difference measurement and log
In addition to measuring altitude, the Core also features a difference measurement tool that allows you to track changes in elevation. This is particularly useful when you're climbing or hiking in difficult terrain. The Core also logs your movements, so you can review your progress and plan your next adventure.
Intuitive altimeter and barometer switching
The Core's altimeter and barometer switch automatically based on your movement. When you're climbing, the Core will record changes in elevation. When you take a break, the Core will record changes in barometric pressure. This intuitive switching ensures that you get accurate data no matter what activity you're doing.
Easy-to-navigate interface
The Core's interface is designed to be user-friendly and easy to navigate, even in tough conditions. The large display shows all the information you need at a glance, and the buttons are easy to use, even when you're wearing gloves. The interface is also customizable, so you can choose the data that's most important to you.

the altimeter i find to be pretty good, although usually when i check it against topo or some other resource it seems to be a tad bit low - but since it uses barometric pressure i think that is acceptable and expected. the compass is good enough in a pinch and for general direction, but anyone really navigating knows to bring a real compass anyway. the features and screen are good. i leave mine in altitude mode and it shows me the time of day on top and the log run time on the bottom. i can change the bottom view to show me total vert gained or lost on the day too, which i do frequently.
my bottom line: this watch simply works and isn't packed with so many features they get in each others way. simplicity. nice product again from suunto

p.s. altimeter is to sensitive. even after driving in a car with A/C on, could spoil it's "zero" and it would give not accurate readings.

3)Things that aren't so great about it
I have owned a few triple sensor watches (Casio, High Gear, Suunto). The Suunto Core All Black Military is Superior. The one possible improvement would be to have 1' altimeter increments like the High Gear triple sensor watches I have owned. But this watch is superior for ease of use and perfect functionality for my activities.
