It's been difficult to find a non-gel ink pen that writes well. The TG Tactical pen writes very well, smooth, and consistent. It also comes with an extra ink cartridge. I like the weight of it. Obviously its heavy because I want to be effective in emergency situations. Whether it's having to break vehicle glass to get out or into a vehicle to potentially save myself or someone else's life. I like to do negative visualization. This the process of rehearsing a emergency or defensive situation and "what will I do?" Mental and physical training are important to implement this tool. It's worth every penny and is apart of my EDC.

As a pen it is awesome, feels good in the hand, has a good grip and looks great. As a window not punch....not great. After attempting to use it for the first time it failed after I attempted to force entry through a passenger window on a vehicle. Four strikes failed and I ended up using my baton which worked first strike. The tip of the pen is completely worn down now. Good pen just not to tactical.

This pen writes well and smooth. Feels good in the hand. The clips is strong and sturdy. Came with a (1)re-fill which is a huge plus.
-remember it a glass breaker also, so it has weight to it. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 So it does pull down on polo pockets! But great on button ups and pant pockets.
-I took a pic of the pen across my hand to use as a reference. I wear XL gloves.

First of all, let me just say that this pen will be your EDC pen until the day someone borrows/steals it or you lose it. You’ll spend more time fighting people off your pen than you will writing with it! The last parts a lie but it’s hard not to want one after seeing it.

But let’s talk about what makes this pen great. As a pen, this thing is a bit hefty, something very handy in an emergency situation. The knurling on the pen helps keep the pen feeling secure in your hand in even wet handed conditions and it’s not so abrasive that it’ll skin you raw either. The pocket clip is actually removable via unscrewing the spike at the top. But the best part? It writes absolutely beautifully. Like a tactical Cross pen.

However, there are a few downsides. For one, the grooves cut into the bottom half of the pen can make it a bit tricky to open if your hand is covered in schmutz and sometimes requires two hands to open WITH the assistance of the pocket clip. Another issue I’ve had with mine when I received it was that the spike would often come loose, making the pen bounce around in my pocket with the clip attached. Being a mechanic by trade, my solution was quite easy: grab something that will slot into two parallel holes at the top of the spike and turn that f*cker until it’s tight! So far so good. You could use Loctite on it if you wanted to but putting torque on the threads seemed to work out pretty well (and without the mess of Loctite).

All in all, I’m proud to call this pen my new EDC. Yes, the body is rather large but it’s comforting to know that it won’t fail you like other “professional” yuppie pens would. If you’re looking for an EDC pen that fits your rugged lifestyle or you just want a writing utensil that’s got that cool tactical look to it, look no further than this!

Really liked the pen had good weight too it and wrote really well. Unfortunately the ink busted after about a week and when I went to replace it with the refill it came with, it did not fit and made the pen unusable.

Each pen comes in a presentable box with a spare cartridge. I have not evaluated the pen's cartridge writing performance, but I suspect it's a common cartridge, with a high capacity ink reservoir that should last a while before the second cartridge is needed. The pen's finish is well applied in a consistent dark black anodizing with a precise white "TG" logo. The clip is robust and functional. The knurling/checkering is deep and provides a solid grip, with a smooth and comfortable forend. I was happy to notice the twist type activator was well lubed and included a small o-ring to help seal internals from moisture and sediment. I give it 4.5 stars for value and high quality. My only critical observation is that the glass breaker end appears to be made of the same aluminum material, and I'm not sure how effective this would be to break glass in an emergency. If a cobalt tip could be added it would be perfect, but I suspect it would greatly increase the cost of production. Overall I'm very happy with the quality and value, and I think it's important to mention that it's more of a pen than a destructive device in comparison to others I have used which makes it a bit more professional but rugged enough to use as a defensive tool if need be.

The Pen appears to be well made from high quality aluminum.
It writes smoothly and quite well.
It comes with an extra pen refill which I think is nice.

There are no instructions included. If you want to replace the ink cartridge just pull the lower part of the pen apart from the upper part. There is even a rubber " O " ring on the lower barrel to prevent gore from your attacker from gumming up the internal works of your Tactical Pen.

Keep in mind if you attempt to unscrew the top of the pen from the bottom you may inadvertently unscrew the top of the ink
cartridge as i did. If this happens you will have to unscrew the
top cap of the pen and push the upper portion of the ink cartridge down with something pointy to get it to drop out.
Then screw this part back on top of your ink cartridge and place it into the lower pen barrel and simply push the upper and lower parts of your tactical pen together.

Oh and I assume the DNA collectors are the circular indentations drilled into the top cap of your Tactical Pen.

Overall i would say it is a neat Pen you can use as a brain basher or a nerve spiker in a self defense situation.

Now you know.....the REST of the story.

Now a standard for my duty belt and tactical rig. I wear gloves all the time and this pen is thick enough to grip and write with any thickness of glove. It is matte black which is consistent with the rest of my gear. It feels heavy in the hand, in a solid-quality way. It extends and retracts the ink tip by twisting the body which is an extremely smooth and quiet motion. It makes zero noise when handled, which is great for when writing during a recording. The incessant clicks and taps makes reviewing long interviews, etc., a pain to listen to. It's a very sturdy design. When dropped it makes a loud enough noise that I hear when it's been dropped and where. I love that the clip is very strong and thin enough to mount in tight spots on my gear. It comes in a very nicely presented box with an extra ink deposit. I think it's fit enough to be a highlight gift for the operator or wannabe in your life. Thinner glass can be broken with the pointed impact tip. My FAVORITE part about this pen, if you encounter resistance during an apprehension, is that the impact tip can be used to apply pressure to painful points on the body which offers an incentive for cooperating. Now, I feel like using any other pen goes against my uniform of the day. Birthdays, father's/mother's day, Christmas, Tuesday... find a reason to gift this to someone or yourself because I'd love a second one if my loved ones knew. One of the best products with the TG logo on it, in my opinion.

I got the pen on a promotional deal. It arrived quickly and was well packaged. It came with one black ink installed, and with one refill. The turn to draw the pen out is a bit much for only being a pen. The reason I say this is because if you go the wrong direction you are unscrewing/disassembling the pen. Not the end of the world nor the reason for the four and a half stars. The reason is due to how smooth the finish is where you grip the pen while writing. It is seriously nice as a finish... very nice.... and smoooooth... lol. I’ve dropped the pen on few occasions. If there were some fine knurling for added grip it would be pretty awesome. However... ending on a positive. The pen is a good length. It’s width is good for grip and purchase, and the clip is in the right placement unlike some other brands which make the pen stick out like a sore thumb. That and it is light weight. All in all I am very happy with this pen. Thank you.
