My previous pair of Bates lasted about 8 years and had become worn, however, I was impressed at how durable they were so I knew I wanted the exact same brand and style. ( Photos of Old next to New) I wore those boots from 12 hour shifts on Patrol into working Criminal Investigations everyday on the job! I am a female and wear 6.5 ( Fairies wear boots!) and knowing from experience I knew they are hard to find...But I found them here at this site! They even arrived already laced and ready to ROCK! The new zipper pull design is an awesome upgrade as well! I am extremely pleased and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Bought these after being very pleased with my previous purchase of the same item in a 4" height (GX-4 GTX). And I have not been disappointed!...Please read my Feb.2015 review of that item for more details.

This is yet another superbly comfortable and supportive boot that can be worn all day, right out of the box. The fit is amazing!! It cradles & the area under the arch, while at the same time, allows plenty of toe room, so there's never an issue of cramping. The breathable Gortex membrane provides comfort indoors & out, and makes this boot impervious to wet conditions, which we have plenty of, here in N.E.Ohio!! After a dose of rain or snow, or muddy water, they just need a wipe down with a damp towel to restore the luster of their beautiful hard shine.

The laces are of the same type as the GX-4. They hold their setting without slipping. In addition, the GX-8 has the side zipper, which means you only have to set the laces once, and after that, the zipper makes the on/off process a 5-second miracle!!

I've had other boots with basically the same features, but these are by far the most comfortable, and the best looking. And, as if that isn't enough, they are the lowest-priced, compared with the others. How can you not love that?

I work for the DOC and a POSC Instructor. I was prior law enforcement, so I've tried lots of brand/styles. I was getting blisters, sore, and sweaty with the gym shoes since I thought that'd be the way to go. I was originally going to purchase the Under Armour Women's Valsetz Stealth Duty Boots, but my husband who has UA boots talked me out of it saying they don't last long. I'm so glad he did!! I wore these for the first week over 8 hours each day on regular duty to break in. Let's just say they took less than 2 hours to break in! They were so comfortable I didn't want to take them off. I had POSC, doing mat work, strikes, pivots, and so forth. A few other instructors bought the UA boots and said they didn't last long. Sure enough, their foot was pushng against the wall and offered no support. I got a lot of compliments about these boots. They look professional and you can shine them to look sharp in front of students/ management. They gave me everything I wanted and more: Comfort, Durability, Support, and Professional. Look no further for fantastic boots!! You can't beat the quality Bates gives you. Spend a little more and get boots your feet will thank you for. Thank you Bates!

Recently I purchased a pair of the GX-8 GTX SZ boots . From the box I wore them for an entire day. No blisters, no rubs just an excellent fit and incredibly comfortable boot. Be sure to purchase your correct size, no need to compensate irregular size. Great boots!!!

I purchased this boot from miliaryboots.com in October 2013. The zipper on these boots is not made as well as the rest of the boot. Wore them every day commuting to work on my motorcycle and all day at work. The zipper tore away from the fabric just before Christmas 2013.

While the rest of the boot is well made and it's comfortable; the zipper is a deal breaker and I've learned a valuable lesson in what to look for when purchasing these boots.

These boots are very supportive but the ankle of the boot are so tight that they are very uncomfortable to walk around in and even while sitting down. I've tried breaking them in for a week but I will not buy these boots again unfortunately.

With the crazy ever changing weather here these are my daily wear. They're light, well constructed and saved me a broken ankle. First day I wore them, stepped in a metal channel that was covered by water, Dr at the ER said if it wasn't for the support of the boots at my ankle I'd have snapped it. I won't wear any other! 3 years on the same pair, wearing them almost daily and still going strong!

These were for my wife and she loves them. They are comfortable, the sizing was correct and they have already proven to be waterproof. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for work or hiking boots.

In 11yrs of street patrol these are by far the most comfortable and easy to run in boot. The support is also amazing..I will continue to buy these until they discontinue which I hope they never do!
