Bates' USMC-certified Durashock boots combine lightweight utility with comfort. Suited for any situation, these boots are durable, reliable and rugged. Designed to hold up during intense operations, the rubber outsole maintains grip on uneven terrain and the Wolverine Warrior leather upper provides dirt, oil and water resistance. Removable Durashock inserts allow for shock absorption in the heel and forefoot, while the internal liner maintains breathability. The direct attach construction makes these boots ultra-durable. Bates also provides a 30-day Comfort Guarantee, which ensures a full refund within 30 days if you are not convinced that these are the most comfortable boots you've ever worn. Made in USA.

I have had two sets of these and have run them to the dirt, however, it is hard to say whether these are the absolute best because of how light these are built, they sacrifice traction, yet cake full of mud.

Most marines wear these boots to the field, for PT, for hikes/ruck marches despite being a garrison boot due to how light they are, but because of that, they break down in six months or less. I have managed to hold onto mine for a full year now by not wearing them often. YES, they are comfortable, HOWEVER, a fatal design flaw Bates has made is where the tongue of the boot meets the forefoot has a seam that will dig into the foot and eventually cause a lot of pain. I have spent days in the field with insert-less boots because of this problem, but with how light these boots are, it was a small price to pay.

Pigskin: Stains and gets wet fast. Eats up waterproofing treatment like it is cool but still will soak through AND STAYS WET and GETS COLD FAST but in the desert of 29 Palms, California, that is not a big issue.

Overall, this is an OK boot.

These boots are great but you may want to go up a size. My ST boots are a size 5 and they fit me perfectly but I ordered a size 5 Lightweights and they were way to small. I now have a size 6 and they fit perfectly.

I bought these boots while on Active Duty. I wore them for everything, including boots and utes PT. These boots are so comfortable and lightweight, it is almost like being in sneakers all day long.
