Blackhawk has established a benchmark in holster security and functionality with their SERPA line. The new SERPA Level 2 Sportster holster blends the tough injection-molded polymer construction of professional duty holsters with the convenience of a slim paddle design for civilian CCW use. This holster sits comfortably at the waist and offers maximum weapon safety thanks to the SERPA Auto Lock release system, which protects the trigger guard and locks the pistol in place until manually disengaged. This holster is compatible with the SERPA Quick Disconnect System Kit which allows for simple adaptation to several holster mounts. The belt loop and paddle platform make this holster perfect for any tactical or duty belt and ideal for civilian carry.

This holster is a bit bulkier than my standard daily IWB carry -- but it fits great. I had never used this type of holster. I can draw quickly and easily with it. The design has it set off of my hip a bit more than I'm used to, but my "inside waist band" holster is obviously going to be very snug against me.
I can easily wear a jacket over this and not have a noticeable bulge. I have seen no evidence that this holster is marking / marring the gun or rubbing funny. It fits very well... not too tightly, not too loosely. It doesn't shake as I walk or run, but it slips right out without any effort (as long as I am pushing the button).
Regarding the paddle-type holster. I had never used a holster that clipped like this. I'm amazed how well it stays on and stays in place without a belt restraining it. I clip this over my existing belt (or jeans with no belt) and it stays up pretty well. I thought it would sag or pull downward MUCH MORE than it does... it barely shifts around.
In a close-quarters struggle, this holster seems like it would take a lot to be removed accidentally. Based on the button and the angle required to draw the weapon, this appears to be a great setup to avoid losing your weapon. A LEO told me that the most important thing to him is to be able to hang on to his weapon in that situation. He carries a holster like this and was impressed at this one-- especially for the price.

Purchased this for my gen 4 Glock 23. Item arrived quickly. Simply insert the three screws in the back, place it on your hip, insert the weapon and adjust the tension screw.....done. Fitment is great, both on the hip and the weapon. All edges are nice and smooth; nothing the snag. Unholstering and reholstering are smooth as silk. The active retention took a little getting used to, coming from a passive retention holster, but is rather intuitive. All-in-all, a great product at a fair price.

This holster is a very secure way to carry. I was worried about the guy who steals your wallet also taking my weapon, but not with this. Between the weapon locking in, and how the paddle secures over the pants and belt, it is a comfortable and worry free carry. I thought it came with the paddle AND belt platforms, but only has the paddle.

Well, i got the Blackhawk Serpa Level 2 Sportster with the paddle, and LOVE IT already.

Just for an idea of size and all, i carry a Beretta 92.

*The paddle seems to take some stress off the belt line which is a plus.
*It is adjustable on the paddle so you may change the angle of the weapon which is another great feature.
*It has an adjustable trap, so you can customize how easy the draw is ( i have mine fairly loose and its still locked in there super tight )
*the release button is very easy to control and while drawing i notice my finger is at the stand-by position along the slide.

Holds the weapon exactly where it's supposed to. It does "print" when wearing t-shirt material. Button up summer shirts show little to no printing. Overall, very durable and would take an act of Congress for anyone to attempt to take the weapon without pressing the release.

I have another of these holsters for my S&W 9mm so I bought another for my Rock Island 1911 A2 .45. Unfortunately it doesn't work straight out of the box - had to heat it a bit with a heat gun and widen up the top due to the wider hand grips with the stacked clip. Now works Great - super happy with the holster!

Safety feature is great, but putting this on and taking it off is a problem for me. A friend of mine has one like this made by a different company and he puts his holster on and slips it off easily. There must be a step that i'm not getting. Seems very well made and fits comfortably once in place.

The Blackhawk Sportster holster for Glock 20 also fits Glock 29 fine (Gen 4 anyway so I guess Gen 3 would fit too), and I have been carrying that way for several months with no scratching or marring. Latches in easy, and never comes out until you want it to. I'm getting two more today for various rigs and carry options. Only reason for 4 stars is it would be better if there were room for my Viridian C5L red and green laser + light set-ups. It is great Blackhawk has them in left and right-hand models since you never know where you could get hit or which arm is left to grab a back-up gun.

I think this holster will be good for me at the range. Not sure I would use it for my personal open carry holster. Very different from the old school leather holsters I am used to. Want to see what other products are out there. I like the retention feature.

Love this holster especially for the price. Can adjust retention and direction of the holster. I really like the dark gray color too, it makes you stand out a bit more compare to everyone else who carries the typical "black" holster. Also very comfortable and comes with belt loop holes if you need it.
