I used the G&G Double Retention holster for my S&W Model-10 service revolver, on duty, for a number of years. Absolutely no other holster came remotely near it for quality, durability, reliability and comfort. I had initially used the old Jay-Pee, and when the department transitioned to this holster, it was like night and day.
Use the slightest drop of oil on the thumb break snap. To break in the holster, unload the weapon. Wrap it in Saran Wrap. Spray the holster inside and out with WD-40. Insert the weapon wrapped and let sit overnight, with the retention snap secured over the hammer spur. It will need a bit of coaxing, go easy and be patient. Next morning, remove weapon and unwrap. Insert and secure, then unholster weapon, about twenty times.
I found that this holster worked best when the duty belt was secured with four belt keepers, one immediately fore and aft of the holster.
When I worked Patrol, this was the absolute best holster I ever used. I was also in several confrontations where I was physically fighting with perpetrators and the holster never failed or gave me any trouble. On the occasions where the weapon was drawn, it was smooth and natural. reholstering was equally smooth and natural without any issues whatsoever.
5-Star Rating. The Best.
