Maxpedition Fatty Pocket Organizer Tactical Reviews, Deals, Problems and Guides

Whereas I like a lot Maxpedition stuff, some of the items are head-scratchers in the design department, while others are just transcendentally perfect: this is one of those! It fits perfectly in the cargo pockets on BDU-cut pants (I haven't tried any others), and groups together all of the things I need in one place, without require that I carry a shoulder bag, or put on a Bat-belt of devices. Currently, it is holding my sunglasses, iPod Touch, cellphone, cigar cutter, lighter, one spare cigar, pen, writing pad, spare key and Timbuk2 money clip. And there is still room for other stuff! I could easily put a pocketknife in there, a passport, or with a little rearrangement, a J frame-sized revolver. Even as fully loaded as I can make it, it still closes easily, and slides easily into the cargo pocket. And, just as good, Maxpedition has put a lifting loop on the back so that it is easy to slide out of a cargo pocket, too.

I bought both the fatty and the regular (slim) pocket organizers. I wanted to have a very small kit of first aid items, a multi-tool, a flashlight, etc. that I could easily shove into a cargo pocket and take with me whenever I left the house. While both the fatty and the slim models could be stuffed into a cargo pocket, I couldn't really fill the fatty to capacity and still get it easily in and out of my pocket. Having the extra room really wasn't much of an advantage. It is a fine quality product with many useful compartments to hold small items. However, I think for an item meant to be carried in a cargo pocket, the fatty model is just a bit too thick. It's nice for the glove compartment of the car, but I find myself only using the slimmer model.

...and boy, was I wrong. I use it all the time. It's great for keeping tons of smaller items from clanking around in my pockets, and is large enough to organize a pretty good assortment of items (pens, money, flashlight, camera, lighter, keys, small documents, ID etc.).

As with all of my Maxpedition purchases, it is of high quality, and very very durable. As I indicated, this was a real surprise in terms of utility.

One caveat: make sure you have full-sized cargo pockets in which to carry it. It is perfectly sized for full-sized pockets, but some more fashion oriented manufacturers have made slightly shorter or narrower pockets, which will look a bit awkward with this pouch peeking out of them.

This is a large pouch with many features to organize small items. It works perfectly with other Maxpedition products such as the Mongo and the Larkspur. I use mine primarily for a first aid pouch because of the compartments and elastic inside. This pouch will help keep you from losing small items inside your bags, glovebox, pack, etc. This item is made to the same durable specs as all other Maxpedition gear and should last a very long time.

Great bag, very well made. Holds a lot more stuff than I thought it would and zips closed easily when obviously overstuffed. The front mesh pocket is basically worthless when the inside is stuffed full for anything more than maybe a ball point pen. This organization sure beats having this stuff floating loose in my backpack or messenger bag.

This is perfect fit for a glove box. Not only will it keep your essential gear and supplies well organized, but in an emergency you can grab it and go.
