The Janus is a two-faced pocket, one side features loop fields for ID patches while the other side has PALS webbing to accept modular accessories. An adjustable and removable strap allows user to decide which side should face forward and whether the opening points to the left or right. The Janus splices into 2 shoulder straps or waist straps using compatible quick release buckle components, providing additional storage for most customers or elongating a fully extended shoulder/waist strap for larger folks. The extension strap can also be completely removed and used independently of the pouch. The pouch too can be used independently by modular attachment to PALS webbing using a pair of 5" TacTie (also with either side facing outwards, opening left or right).Main: 8" x 4" x 1.5" with internal dividers and elastic loops, dual zipper opening | Extension strap range: max 13", min 8" | Empty weight: 8.4oz (with strap) | Attach: 5" TacTie (sold separately) | Product Materials: 1000-Denier water and abrasion resistant light-weight ballistic nylon fabric | Teflon fabric protector for grime resistance and easy | YKK high strength zippers and zipper tracks | UTX-Duraflex nylon buckles for low sound closures | Triple polyurethane coated for water resistance | High tensile strength nylon webbing | High tensile strength composite nylon thread (stronger than ordinary industry standard nylon thread) | Internal seams taped and finished | Stress points double stitched, Bartacked or "Box-and-X" stitched for added strength | . Cleaning Instructions: Maxpedition's nylon fabric is treated with Dupont Teflon for superb water and grime resistance | To clean, simply wipe down with a damp cloth. Allow gear to dry naturally | Do not machine wash | Do not use detergent or bleach

The Janus Extension Pocket by Maxpedition is an excellent add-on component to attach to other Maxpedition gear, with or without the extension, to increase storage capacity and versatility. I use the Janus by attaching it to my 2" shoulder strap on my Maxpedition 12-Inch X 5-Inch Bottle Holder. The extension strap can also be completely removed which is what I have done since I am not using it as an extension. Inside the Janus is a small first aid kit that I use when on short hikes which includes an assortment of Band-Aids, 5x9 surgical dressing, Moleskin for blisters, anti-bacterial ointment, alcohol preps, Advil, Aspirin, Imodium A-D, Benadryl, tweezers, anti-bacterial hand wipes and a magnifying glass. For those who would not be using it as a first aid kit the Janus will easily hold items such as a cell phone, wallet, keys, small pad and pen, lighter, compass, emergency space blanket, whistle, emergency signal mirror, etc.

The Janus features are: 8" x 4" x 1.5" with internal dividers, elastic loops and durable dual zipper opening. I have never encountered a zipper failure on any Maxpedition product. It weighs 8.4 ounces has PALS webbing for attachment using Maxpedition 5-Inch TacTile - Pack Of 4. The Janus is water and abrasion resistant and extremely durable. It will handle any abuse that you can dish out.

If you need an extension, extra storage space and versatility then I highly recommend the Janus by Maxpedition.

For anyone with a Maxpedition Kodiak Gearslinger, imagine the small front pocket (top), but with pockets and elastic on both sides, and you have the Janus. I've currently got this one riding on the strap of my Maxpedition Kodiak, which puts it in the perfect access position when the bag is "slung" across my back.

As with all Maxpedition gear I've purchased, the construction is excellent - durable and well executed. The pocket has lots of room, allowing me to carry a flashlight, batteries, pens, notepad, MP3 player, camera and more. In all, a very good purchase.

It gives you that extra length when wearing a jacket or sweatshirt etc. The pocket is great for wallet, glasses or whatever. Tough zipper and strong stitching makes an excellent addition to the pack

If you are a very large person, I am 6'4" 300lbs 3' wide at the shoulders, and you need to carry some gear (diabetic, meds, transistor radio, cell phone, etc) you will find that the smaller gearslingers just don't fit right, the Janus adds just the right amount of length and counterbalances things nicely.

Fits my wallet, a small writing book and my iphone. Convenient, right on my chest as I walk. Absolutely bulletproof construction and extends the chest/shoulder strap. What more do I need?
