The Bates 5" Tactical Sport boots have a comfortable, lightweight design and can be used on any terrain, from urban sidewalks to craggy mountain outcrops. A slip-resistant rubber outsole ensures grip, while the mesh lining allows for maximum breathability. The boots also sport removable, cushioned inserts, which contain pads to absorb shock along the foot. Leather and nylon uppers maintain comfort and functionality, but are still light enough for practical, everyday use. The athletic cement construction makes for a versatile, efficient pair of boots suited to any environment.

These are great boots, my third pair of Bates. I wear t n in a wet work environment with heavy cleaners and they routinely last me a year, far more than many other non-slip options I’ve tried. They take a month or so to get really comfortable but they’re always supportive and dry. Also, the soles don’t split or peel off the shoe, another problem I’ve had with other brands. All in all, a great boot that I would highly recommend.

The sloes at the ball of your feet have no cushioning. It was OK the first day and got worse breaking down. After my third shift in these boots they are done! The worst boot and waste of money I have ever spent. The brand name used to be of quality, but now are just like the rest of the overseas made boots. I wore Bates boots in the early part of my 34 years in Law Enforcement, and have seen this trend evolve. I am back in my Corcoran U.S. made boots and my feet are very happy again.

very comfortable, light weight, breathable, good traction and they look good. But after only three weeks of use the soles started coming unglued from the leather. I was wearing them 5 days a week for 9 hrs a day. This was the first pair of bates and last. I've owned a few pair of magnum brand boots and they lasted about a year before they started coming unglued. To me this is reasonable but three weeks is not. I called military boots about the issues and had no problems getting my money back. The customer service rep was very friendly and helpful. They contacted bates about the issue and they sent a return lable. If you don't plan on using these boots for heavy use then they are great but otherwise look for something else.

Years ago, while still in the moving business full time and on my feet heavy lifting daily, I bought my 1st pair. They were basically my daily footwear in all conditions, year-round, 4 seasons for at least 3 years, and walked in over 15 states doing work. I even handed that pair down to a son who wore them for a year or so after ,e. Then my second pair lasted just like the first. I just got my third pair yesterday, about 8 years down the line from my first buy. I know boots. This model, is in my opinion, the best all-around boot available for the money (or even a bit more), period. I've worn many brands and models over the years, but this boot has become my go-to. Expect a break-in period, and eventually to replace the insoles with other good or better than original. But, the boots will give you more wear and comfort than your money's worth. Cheers, Luke

My contractor/carpenter husband has horrible ankles and has been relegated to wearing high tops, which he has worn for most of his adult life. We tried these ten years ago on a whim. They felt light weight but looked like they’d give him the support he needs.
These boots are AMAZONG!!!! He has gone through 7 pairs by now. You might think from that they don’t last, but they last FOREVER! The only reason he’s bought so many is that he abuses them in the field and has to replace the ones he wears to CHURCH!! Yes, he wears these to church and we always have three pairs for him to rotate through. He does not wear sneakers or any other foot covering. We have a small farm and the amount of walking and working he does in the course of a day would tire him out if these weren't so lightweight and flexible. Well never change. And the price????? Thanks!

I have bought Bates boots for years now , when i was in the Fire service I started wearing them and I still wear them today . I am on my feet 12 to 14 hours a day six to seven days a week and they have always held up. I buy a new pair once a year and I will always buy Bates they hold up to everything I throw at them.

I have buying this same Bates 5" Tactical Sport Boot for 10 years.
I have been in the construction industry for 25 years and this boot is the
only one that tolerates the abuse of all weather, mud, concrete, paint,
drywall mud and the list goes on. I can get 12 to 18 months out of a $62.00 boot. That's awesome. Thanks for a great product.

Was very excited about these boots until I tried them on. They are very narrow and small. Felt like baby boots. I've had other bates boots and loved them, maybe that's why these are so cheap. I've bought multiple boots from this website and this was the first problem I've encountered.

Have worn these before and they still fit the same as before. Much more comfortable than the composite toe models, those were a lot stiffer than these. My only issue with them is that they seem hotter than before. My feet were a lot more uncomfortable in the hot weather we have here in South Texas. Other than that, it’s the same reliable fit as my previous pairs.

I haven't worn the new purchase yet but ordered the because I purchased the taller boots a year ago and they have held up great. I did order a size bigger and installed gel inserts. I am 6 foot 3 and weigh 300 lbs. The soles are wearing great. The eyelets have held up well. The stitching and materials have held up well. Would definitely recommend.
